A good day for liberty lovers in South Dakota: Rep. Stace Nelson forms Exploratory Committee for Federal Office!

July 9, 2013

SD Dist. 19 Representative Stace Nelson

Today South Dakota District 19 State Representative Stace Nelson announced the formation of an exploratory committee to run for federal office. This is the news I have been hoping to see! Over this last year I have been paying close attention to what actually happens in Pierre. One name that remains consistent in liberty-related issues is Stace Nelson. Stace has proven himself able to fight for what is right. That is true even (or maybe especially) if it means he has to go against party leadership. To me the sign of a good leader is someone willing to speak up when others are afraid to do so. From what I have seen Mr. Nelson is never afraid to speak up. As a South Dakota resident this is exactly the type of leader I want in DC!

Below is the actual Press Release. You will notice in this press release that Mr Nelson does not actually choose which office he is running for. I have my idea of which way he should go, but that is a post for different day. Right now is the time to celebrate the entry of a liberty-loving conservative into higher office (no matter which one it may be).

FULTON, SD – District 19 State Representative Stace Nelson announced today the formation of an exploratory committee for a possible run for federal office.

“South Dakotans want the opportunity to support an actual fiscal and social conservative to represent them in Washington. My record of service as a Marine, federal agent, and legislator shows I am committed to fighting for South Dakota families and their values,” said Nelson.

Nelson is a decorated veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a retired NCIS agent with over 23 years of combined federal service. He was first elected to the State House in 2010 in District 25 and reelected in 2012 in District 19.

“South Dakotans, from across the state, have asked me these last several years to run for higher office. After much prayer and consideration, I am dedicated and determined to provide South Dakotans a strong voice of leadership.”

Born in Sioux Falls, Nelson is a 4th generation South Dakotan who spent his early years in Salem & Mitchell, SD. Coming from a family of farmers and veterans, he enlisted in the Marines during high school and served overseas, later working as a NCIS Special Agent and Investigator until his retirement.

“I have heard the frustrations and concerns of South Dakotans with what is going on in Washington. I have shown that I am an honest public servant and I am not in office merely to appease Party leadership on either side of the aisle, nor to kowtow to special interests. That’s the kind of service that will rescue the future of our children and grandchildren.”

Nelson has six children, one grandchild and lives on a small farm North of Fulton with his wife, Aiza.

O.K., Ken, it’s a different day. For which office should Nelson run?

Haha, the problem is Stace made his announcement during one of my busy times!

I am so thrilled to read this news!! Stacey you are an awesome Representative and you stand firm in your oath to protect and preserve the Constitution. Thank you for your dedication to South Dakotans! It is comforting to know that you are among the few who can’t be “bought and paid for” nor will you sell us or our children out. God Bless you and your family!
