Republican Senate debate tonight, All Party candidate forum tomorrow, Democrat Governor debate on Tuesday

May 15, 2014

podiumOver the next few days there are a few events to look out for.

US Senate Republican Primary Debate

Tonight SDPB is hosing a debate for the five candidates in the Republican US Senate primary. Here is the info from their website:

U.S. Senate Republican Primary Debate

90 minutes
SDPB1 TV & SDPB Online:
Thursday, May 15, 8pm (7 MT)
SDPB Online | Watch & Listen Live
Archived at SDPB.org/Election14

This should be a good one to watch. I’ll be live-tweeting the event and hope to do a post shortly after it completes (no promises on the blog post, I still have work to do tonight and a long drive to Kyle in the morning). Click the link in the info above to watch the debate.

Woksape Tipi’s Open Political Forum

This is the event tomorrow at the Oglala Lakota College. Yesterday I posted an update of who is and isn’t attending. It is worth noting that all Gubernatorial candidates are attending except for the one that feels he doesn’t need to work for votes: the incumbent Governor Daugaard. It will also be interesting to see if Rounds and Bosworth will show up, each has reason to fear a forum with questions they don’t know in advance. I will be at the event and will try live-tweeting from the scene. The event will also be live-streamed.

Democrat Gubernatorial Primary Debate

On Tuesday, May 20, the Brookings County Democrats are hosting a debate between primary candidates Joe Lowe and Susan Wismer. The event will be held at the Brookings Public Library and run from 7pm – 9pm. Anyone in the Brookings area should plan on attending and seeing what these candidates have to offer.  I might make the trip down Brookings and see how this debate goes. I really feel few members of the media or blogsphere have covered these two candidates . (h/t Cory @ Madville times for bringing attention to this event).

Somebody should be raising hell for not rescheduling a debate with Dennis Daugaard and Lora Hubbel. Lora and the voters of SD deserve a debate. It is not to late. Come on SDPB do the right thing and don’t worry about your funding from the Governor. Reschedule, and if the Governor won’t show, give Lora the whole hour.

I agree. I think I’ll have to do a post on that this weekend. So many posts I want to do… so little time! I hope to get a good statement from Lora tomorrow at the forum.
