Susan announcement from the Susan Wismer for SD Facebook Page

I just noticed the following Facebook event created by the Susan Wismer for South Dakota Facebook page:

You’re invited! Come celebrate the opening of our brand new Susan for South Dakota Campaign Headquarters in Sioux Falls! Visit with fellow supporters, find out ways to get involved with our grassroots effort, and hear from both Susan Wismer and Susy Blake about their mission to take South Dakota back from the corruption and special interests of the current administration!

(RSVP and details here: http://on.fb.me/Wfsl7O)

It is nice to see the Democrats are going to have a campaign headquarters for the Governors Race. The last time I seen Wismer speak was at a meet/greet fundraiser in Aberdeen. She was much more fired up at that event than I had seen her in the past.  Maybe the Democrats are going to kick up their campaign efforts from the mild whisper it has been thus far. That would be great. Daugaard needs some good competition. And so far only Independent gubernatorial candidate Mike Myers is doing anything worthy of blog attention.

For Sioux Falls area Democrats this may be a good chance to get together and help your candidate get votes this fall. I wonder if she will open a Rapid City office as well. Opening a west river office on reservation land may be an interesting move. Susan should talk with Rick about doing something like that together.

Before they move too fast though… I would create a logo that includes the name Wismer on it. It can cause brand confusion if the Lt Gov candidate is the only one that gets her last name on the logo used (The Displaced Plainsman also has some thoughts on this).  Yes, the Susan for SD is clever because both candidates are a Susan. But she still needs people to at least know what her last name is. Here is the logo used by the campaign that doesn’t have Susan Blake’s name on it:

No mention of Wismer at all…

In a tree way shootout, Daugaard wins.

Wismer needs more than an office if she wants to be Governor, my advice to Susan move to a very liberal state like Vermont and run there. Susan might not be to liberal in Vermont! She could carry on the Howard Dean legacy!! YAHHHHHH!!

Haha, yeah. I think she is running a bit left for this state. But it doesn’t really matter since nobody will hear anything about her.

If SD wants a woman governor, they will have to bring in Clinton. She could chew up Daugaard up pretty well. She’s rough and tough and knows how to campaign, Susan doesn’t. She doesn’t have the fire in her. She needs to save her time and money, get out of the race and let Myers take it on. I would like to hear what the polls say now. By running, the only thing she is doing is ensuring she and Myers will lose.

I don’t think Clinton would be the best woman gov.. actually in this state it might backfire. I do think a woman governor is possible in SD. Just not sure who.

But to your bigger point. I definitely agree Myers is a better candidate in this race. He can make headway that Wismper simply can’t.

I didn’t say she would be a good governor for SD. I said was she was a much better campaigner/debater than Wismer. All Wismer is going to do is help defeat Myer. The stupid democrats don’t realize she has no chance, and they would be much better off dumping Wismer and endorse Myers.

I see what your saying. I agree. The dems need a candidate that knows how to fundraise. Or at least a good campaign manager that knows how to train a candidate to fundraise.

Being able to raise funds may be important, but if they don’t have a candidate who can inspire the voters, its a waste of time and money. I haven’t heard Wismer so maybe I shouldn’t be so quick to judge her, but how long has it been since a Democrat been able to inspire voters? Daschle was the last one.

I always voted for Daschle not because I agreed with him, but he would listen to what I had to say and show me respect even though he knew his friend,Janklow hated me.

No Clinton would be destroyed and rightfully so. She is responsible for the death of 5 Americans in Benghazi.

Get over it, Donkey. She didn’t tie them up and let them get shot. You are too much into the blame game.

Stephanie Herseth will be the first woman Governor. Sorry “Susan” but maybe you can take credit for blazing the trail?

I could see that happening… Hopefully for Herseth she doesn’t choose a Susan as her running-mate.
