House State Affairs committee has two bills on Jan 23

January 21, 2015

Anonymous-Architetto----architetto-2On Friday, January 23rd, at 8:00 AM the House State Affairs committee will take up two bills.

HB 1051 – Revise various trust and trust company provisions.

This bill originates from the Department of Labor and Regulation. There are a lot of changes made in this bill. Some of the changes are to clean up the code. But a lot of it also changes various aspects of trusts. This might be one worth listening to testimony on to determine the why the DLR thinks all of these changes are necessary.

HB 1029 – Revise certain requirements regarding high performance building design and construction standards for newly constructed or renovated state-owned buildings.

The Bureau of Administration submitted this bill. This bill changes some definitions in relations to high-performance green building standard, which the state uses for construction. Notably this bill would make buildings that cost $1,000,000 or more for new construction to follow the standard, up from $500,000. The same is also true for renovations of current state buildings, or if it has at least 10,000 sq ft, up from 5,000 sq ft. Not sure what is driving this bill.
