Senate Transportation has two bills on Jan 28

January 27, 2015

trailerOn Wednesday, January 28th, the Senate Transportation committee will take on 2 bills.

SB 41 – SoDakLibery PostsRevise certain provisions pertaining to commercial driver licensing.

The SD Department of Public Safety (DPS) asked for this bill. Some of this seems to be cleanup and modernization of language. The driving force behind this bill appears to be the implementation of a “Commercial learner’s permit” or “CLP” and update current code to use that term. It also adds a new section of code for refresher courses and exams for CDL’s.

SB 79 – SoDakLibery PostsRevise certain provisions concerning the manner in which county wheel taxes are imposed.

This bill would allow a county to exempt all trailers from wheel taxes.
