A couple more bills withdrawn during the fifth SD legislative week

February 16, 2015

Ten days ago I noted the fourteen bills that had been withdrawn by sponsors before actually being taken up in committee. During during the fifth SD legislative week I noticed two more bills that had been withdrawn by the sponsors.

SB 158 – Withdrawn – SoDakLiberty Posts – Expand certain licensing exemptions regarding money lenders and mortgage lenders.

Sen Brock Greenfield (R, Dist 2) and Rep Thomas Brunner (R, Dist 29) were the prime sponsors. This would have added certain nonprofit cooperative lenders to the list of exempt lenders.

SB 171 – Withdrawn – SoDakLiberty Posts – Authorize residents with out-of-state driver licenses to maintain resident hunting, fishing, and trapping privileges.

Sen Craig Tieszen (R, Dist 34) and Rep Jeff Partridge (R, Dist 34) were the prime sponsors. I didn’t really get the point of this one. But I’ve heard it said certain employers have required an out-of-state drivers license to be maintained by employees. I’m not sure that quite jives with current SD law. Probably best this bill was withdrawn.
